During a migration the project will involve rebuilding all web pages, header, footer, navigation, forms, functionality such as site search, secure member area etc.

When planning a website migration you may wish to consider:

  • Reviewing the current navigation and URL structure
  • Security ensuring use of a security certificate with a secure connection i.e. HTTPS
  • Using latest and current technology with consideration to other internal systems that may benefit from an integration with the website e.g. CRM for website leads
  • Updating your design either as a light refresh or a complete redesign
  • Consider what features, capabilities and content will drive the most user benefits for your website visitors

You will find it’s an excellent opportunity to strengthen your brand, optimise for SEO, and enhance user experiences. I-Finity's Website Migration Approach

  • Pre-migration audit: Before migration begins, our team audits your current website to understand its technical health, structure, and overall performance. This identifies any risks and uncovers opportunities for improvement.

  • SEO Considerations: A migration of any size should preserve your existing search presence and manage potential URL redirects, with a website move key practices need to take place to inform search engines. At I-Finity, we often partner with an SEO agency to ensure all SEO value is retained and improved upon. CMS platform migration

Changing platforms? It doesn’t have to be daunting. We can move your website to a new CMS like Umbraco a .Net based CMS ensuring every aspect is carefully planned and transitioned whilst prioritising data integrity, functionality, and user experience.

  • Accessibility: Website accessibility is important for providing inclusive access to your site and ensuring there are no barriers to users wanting to access your site and interact with your content. A migration is a good time to review how accessible your design and current website is to ensure anything that fails is corrected and improved upon within the new build. During a migration, we recommend an initial accessibility audit to inform the website migration project.

  • Content and asset transfer: A migration is more than just code. We handle the meticulous transfer of your content — including images, files, and media — ensuring everything moves exactly where it should. We will use a combination of automated and manual transfer of content as required to keep your content and media assets intact.

  • Staging site deployment and QA: Testing is a critical safeguard before switching over to the new migrated website. . We provision a staging site that mirrors your production environment, where we deploy all code changes too and this is where we move all content too. This allows our team to test and quality-check everything for a seamless launch. We provide this staging environment for you to see the progress, review the website and we will carry out any required CMS training with you in this environment.

  • Analytics, tracking, and goal migration: We carry over your analytics, tracking setups, and goal conversions so you can continue measuring success post-migration. Our team ensures these systems are intact and fully functional from the day your new migrated website goes live.

  • Post-launch support and performance reporting: A successful website migration plan doesn’t end at launch. Our team will remain available to provide any post-launch support, resolve any emerging issues, and report on performance. This helps you stay informed and confident as your website evolves on its new platform.
